Founded in 1987 by John Tiegen in Fox Creek, Alberta, Prefurd Welding Ltd. began as a welding company and grew alongside the oil and gas industry. After relocating to Grande Prairie in 1995, PREFURD expanded its capabilities and built a reputation for reliable work across major projects in Alberta and northern BC.
As demand evolved, PREFURD expanded beyond welding to include pipeline construction, custom fabrication, and oilfield insulation. Over time, that growth developed into broader capabilities across skid packages, building fabrication, piping and structural welding, insulation, vessel maintenance, and field construction — helping position PREFURD as a trusted contractor on complex projects.
Today, PREFURD is proudly Métis and woman-owned, supported by experienced leadership and a diverse team. That combination of ownership, experience, and practical knowledge continues to shape how we work — with a focus on strong partnerships, dependable results, and meaningful contribution to the communities where we operate.
Based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, PREFURD serves clients across Alberta and northern BC. Being locally rooted keeps us connected to the work, the people, and the pace of the region—allowing us to respond with practical, on-the-ground support our clients can rely on.
